After more than 60 years serving the community, the Oak Ridges Lions Club will be the toast of the town this weekend.
Humberland Parkette will be renamed Oak Ridges Lions Club Park Sunday and the club will be honoured at a community barbecue.
“This will probably be the first community barbecue where (Lions members) are not working,” Ward 1 Councillor and Oak Ridges Lion Greg Beros said.
The barbecuing will be handled by volunteers from Enbridge Gas. you can join current and past Lions to celebrate the park renaming and enjoy the festivities.
“The club recently turned 60 and I know council wanted to do something substantial to mark that achievement,” Mr. Beros said, adding the Richmond Hill Rotary Club received a similar honour in 2008.
The park is at Red Cardinal Trail, which runs south off Bloomington Road West, just east of Bathurst Street.
